A West Feliciana resident was severely burned trying to control a gasoline leak caused when a tractor hit a fuel storage tank Sept. 17 at property on Pittman Road, according to preliminary information posted by West Feliciana Fire Protection District No. 1. The gasoline erupted into flames while the man was trying to staunch the leak.

The 21st annual Dan Klein Sr. Memorial Rodeo begins Friday, Sept. 19, and resumes Saturday, Sept. 20. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the rodeo starts at 8 p.m. both nights. The rodeo, which started as a dream of Dan Klein Sr., continued after he passed away thanks to his sons and brothers.

HEALTH OFFICIALS CONFIRM 12 NEW WEST NILE VIRUS INFECTIONS, 92 CASES THIS YEAR

There were seven new cases of West Nile fever reported last week: Caddo (2), East Baton Rouge (2), Livingston (1), Orleans (1) and St. Tammany (1) and two new asymptomatic cases, one in East Baton Rouge and one in Iberville parishes.

Karl "Bubba" Chaney, 1961 ~ 2014

A former District 6 East Feliciana Parish Police Juror with 12 years of service, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2014.

He was 52-years-old and was a member of Pipefitters Local 198.
